JOB DESCRIPTION
Capt Hirams is searching for a committed, proactive dockhand who would enjoy work in an exciting, fast-paced environment. In this position, you will oversee the maintenance of the Marina, Sandbar, and Bimini Beach daily. You will also ensure all incoming vessels are secured and tied appropriately to the dock. The Dockhand will also ensure that guest inquiries are answered as well as provide customer service to guests purchasing resort amenities. This position requires weekends, holidays, and shift work.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Monitor all marina activity including all boats, slip reservations, as well as weather and water levels daily
- Properly direct and tie up all boats on both transient dock and dock slips
- Restock coolers with ice, soda, water, and beer
- Pick up trash on the beach, rocks, and in parking lot
- Take out trash inside adventure center and at dock entrance
- Communicate on VHF radio
- Provide customer service through answering incoming phone calls and use the POS system to complete transactions
- Maintain job knowledge of resort information to answer customer inquiries
- Perform opening and closing duties
- Properly compile and log incoming slip reservations
- Any additional tasks deemed necessary in the future
EDUCATION AND /OR EXPERIENCE:
- One year experience preferred
- Preferred previous retail or cashier experience
- Must possess excellent communication skills
- Possess basic math skills
- Preferred customer service experience and knowledge of local area
- Strong problem-solving abilities
- Must have cash handling experience and the ability to operate a cash register
- Must be computer literate
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, sit and other activities as requested. The employee must be able to lift/or move up to 80 pounds. Standing for long periods of time. Ability to work in different environmental working conditions, i.e. heat, cold, rain.
