Be the Difference: United Way Opens Volunteer Registration for 30th Annual Day of Caring
VERO BEACH, August 15, 2025 – Volunteer registration is now open for United Way of Indian River County’s 30th Annual Day of Caring, taking place Saturday, October 11, 2025. Sponsored by Publix Super Markets, this long-standing day of service rallies hundreds of community members to give back, connect, and make a tangible impact—together.
The day kicks off at 8:00 AM with a free community breakfast at Holman Stadium at the Jackie Robinson Training Complex, where volunteers can also pick up their official Day of Caring T-shirts. Enjoy breakfast sandwiches provided by Conrado-Odem McDonald’s, fresh juice from Natalie’s Orchid Island Juice Company, and delicious coffee from Coffee House 1420. A lively pep rally and energizing warm-up led by TBLB Fitness will get everyone ready to roll before teams head out at 9:00 AM for a morning of hands-on projects that support local nonprofits, schools, and community organizations.
“This event is the heartbeat of our community,” said Meredith Egan, CEO of United Way of Indian River County. “It’s everyday people showing up for one another—with energy, kindness, and a spirit of service that inspires hope and connection.”
Volunteer opportunities range in size and skill level. Projects are designed to be completed within four hours and are open to individuals, families, businesses, schools, and civic groups.
Some of this year’s featured projects include:
- Sorting recycled fishing line and making light test cards with Coastal Connections
- Packing clothing and books for Kidz Closet Charities
- Creating holiday cards for local seniors with Senior Resource Association
- Organizing storage spaces with Team Success Enterprises
- Beautifying the Childcare Resources campus through cleaning, landscaping, and classroom prep
