United Way Celebrates 30 Years of Caring, Calls on Local Organizations to Submit Projects
VERO BEACH, June 30, 2025 – United Way of Indian River County is now accepting project submissions for its milestone 30th Annual Day of Caring, set for Saturday, October 11, 2025. Sponsored by Publix Super Markets, this beloved community tradition mobilizes hundreds of volunteers for one powerful day of service across the county.
Last year, more than 500 volunteers rolled up their sleeves to complete 49 meaningful projects—from community cleanups and painting classrooms to packing early literacy kits and preparing meals. This year, United Way invites local nonprofits, churches, and schools to be part of the impact by submitting new projects in need of helping hands.
“In times like these, it’s easy to feel weighed down by the world,” said Meredith Egan, CEO of United Way of Indian River County. “But every Day of Caring, we see what makes this community so special. Neighbors step up to support one another. There’s laughter, teamwork, and an overwhelming sense of hope. It’s a reminder that the people of Indian River County are its greatest strength.”
The event will begin with a kickoff breakfast at Holman Stadium at the Jackie Robinson Training Complex before volunteers fan out to their assigned locations promptly at 9:00 AM. Projects should be hands-on, able to be completed in roughly four hours, and make a tangible difference for the hosting organization or the people they serve
Organizations do not need to be current United Way partners to participate. United Way provides logistical support and matches volunteer teams to projects based on need and availability.
To submit a project, unitedwayirc.org/day-of-caring. The deadline for submissions is Friday, August 30, 2025. For more information or support with your submission, contact Amanda Morgan at Amanda.Morgan@UnitedWayIRC.org or (772) 567-8900, ext. 120.
